Craving for tamales? Get over to AVA for 6th annual festival
This is one of our favorite things about December:
The annual Tamal & Heritage Festival.
And it’s happening from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater at Casino del Sol, 5655 W. Valencia Road.
Tamal makers from around the city will sell their treats there, serving up the treats in four categories: traditional, green corn, exotic and sweet. Thankfully, there are all sorts of tamales, and we’ve a tendency to sample as many as possible.
This is the sixth year for the event, and the organizers have got it down to a near-science. Besides the good food, there will be music, arts and crafts. And get this: it’s free.
How can you refuse?
Ah, happy, happy December.
